Educational psychology and development across the lifespan

Welcome to the Educational Psychology and Lifespan Development research group at Ruhr Universität Bochum!

Educational Psychology focuses on describing, explaining, predicting, and changing human experiences and behaviors in educational and upbringing situations throughout the lifespan. The goal is to better understand learning and educational processes and to create a foundation for optimizing them.

The main focuses of our work are in the areas of teachers’ beliefs, gender differences in academic success, school handling of diversity and inclusion, and digital media use by children and adolescents. For our research, we use both secondary analyses of existing data (e.g., from the National Educational Panel NEPS) and experimental study designs and mixed methods approaches, collaborating interdisciplinary with researchers from other fields (e.g., sociology, computational linguistics, sports science). Our research is funded, among others, by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Stiftung Mercator. More information can be found under Research and Publications.
